I’m trying out WPEngine instead of self-managed EC2 since my self-managed uptime stats were pretty bad.
Let me know if anything about the blog is more broken than it was before.
WPEngine is.…..kinda overpriced junk.
If you know better “full service” wordpress hosting by all means share!
It solves a real problem for me (my EC2 micro instance was always locking up, didn’t have enough memory/CPU, and I didn’t keep up with security patches adequately). And it costs about the same as EC2+staticIP+persistent volume.
Spending time on sysadmin crap to save a few bucks is stupid for me to do.
wordpress.com is the obvious alternative but it’s a pretty different offering so hard to compare on price alone.
Just wondering why you’re not using wordpress.com … its free unless you want your own domain with it
last I looked they had restrictions like no ads, only certain plugins, stuff like that. and I do have my own domain of course. but mostly I just didn’t bother with an exhaustive research project, I read some positive stuff about wpengine and tried it and it seemed to work.
